When are we going up?

My boy, who is but six years of age, asked me the other day while we relaxed in the hot tub “When are we going up?”

He was casually sky gazing so I said “You mean on holiday, in a plane?” I responded. We have been planning a trip, and it will be his first time flying so I  assumed this was the foundation of the question.

“No,” he said “I mean go straight up, like in a helicopter”

I felt I knew what he meant since I had been listening to Perry Stone preach on the rapture, and watching the latest news on Syria. I had a feeling the answer was ‘soon’, but instead I said “why honey?”

His answer astonished me…

“Because we are stuck in the present down here, aren’t we?”

He is 6. Wow. I agreed we were.. and I thought…

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28

Review: Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree

Purging Your House, Pruning Your Family Tree, Perry Stone, Charisma House

I liked this book, a lot. This is how much I liked it… It arrived by post at about 11am, by 2pm I was on my 3rd coffee, still with it in hand. I speed read most of it the same day and then spent the last few days reading it again properly. I learned a lot about demons and I learned quite a lot about Perry Stone, who turns out the be very likeable. There was no questioning he was oft quoting scripture to support is work. All good so far…

The only thing I didn’t like was it wasn’t enough of a “how to…” manual for me. I’ve got some stuff going on in my life and a part of me wanted this book to give me permission to make some radical changes as well as give me step by step guidance on making those changes. Clearly that was an unfair expectation, and had it been fulfilled would most like have left Mr Stone wide open to all sorts of “I read your book, did what it said and it wrecked my life” allegations and probably potential legal actions. I’m not at all sure about the relevance of the chapter on new and full moons that sits a little awkwardly near the end, like a slightly embarrassing distant cousin to the rest of the chapters.

If your family has some very odd or destructive branches that need radical pruning, this book sadly doesn’t give you enough surgical knowledge… not sufficient to do what it says on the cover, safe in the knowledge that you will do no harm. Other than that it is well worth a read.
